The Broomfield Club 1st Team was founded in 1911 with it's players being drawn from the Palmers Green and Southgate area, at a time when Southgate was only an expanding village.
The Club's origins are depicted by the club badge with the ancient entrance gate to Southgate Village which stood for many years adjacent the ''Broomfield Estate'' where grew in profusion the flowering Broom shrub whose foliage is also seen on the badge. The emblem of Middlesex County of course completed the badge designed at a time when people had intense loyalty to their county.
Broomfield 1st team affiliated to the Amateur Football Alliance in 1926 and have been members of the Southern Amateur League since 1958. The team currently plays in Senior Section Division 1 of the SAL and has been crowned champions on two occasions.
The 1st Team also competes in two prestigious Cup Competitions The AFA Senior Cup and The AFA Middx&Essex Senior Cup.
